Sometimes the unexpected happens.
We’ve all heard of miraculous stories of survival that seem like they can’t be real. Some of them seem like they are right out of the movies. Take for instance the story of a man who survived for three days underwater in a capsized tugboat. In June 2013, Harrison Okene became trapped when his ship was overturned by a large swell, but he didn’t give up. For those three days he clung to life in a four foot air pocket while battling the elements and avoiding sharks that began roaming the ship. He lived through the ordeal and went on to get married.
“We don’t even know how strong we are until we are forced to bring that hidden strength forward.” – Isabel Allende
We may not all face a situation like the one faced by Harrison Okene or countless others who have endured incredibly difficult circumstances. Yet for each of us, there may come a time when we feel trapped, afraid to move forward or perhaps even unable to. We may need to be rescued or saved, but until we are, we must learn to survive. You may be facing such a time, or you may know someone who is. In those moments we must find our pockets of hidden strength and continue to persevere. We must lift ourselves and others up and continue to survive until we are able to thrive.
In those moments it’s the little things that can save us. Good thoughts and intentions can be the difference between losing it and keeping it together. That’s why there is value in sharing positive thoughts and emotions with others through inspirational cards. Even a simple card can lift someone up and give them the strength they need to hold on just a bit longer. You never know what someone is truly going through, but you can always share a little bit of love with them. It may just be the hand they need to find that hidden strength.
